ALIAS needed a UX Researcher to take over the initial research phase in developing a professional and social networking app for artists of various genres.

ALIAS

Research made the user target tangible and helped measure the overall app desirability. I was able to analyse questionairs and interview answers, and identify the main user goals, pains, motivations, and jobs-to-be-done.

Users' main POI let us discuss the app functionality and user onboarding to enable stakeholders take informed decisions on the overall product development and essential features. The next design phases were to be the responsibility of the internal design team, so insightful research was very important for project success.

The findings layed out that a common ground for defining the typical, most common use cases does not exist, since different artists have very different needs and JBDs. This fact significantly challenged the development and initial optimization of the user flows for example.

So, the solution I suggested was an analytical overview of the target audience with its demographic characteristics, a user segmentation based on the professional specifics, and a heuristic user needs report to facilitate the internal design team with further insights.

The Artifacts

All Projects

The main challenges were the absence of similar products on the market in order to conduct user testing with similar products, as well as the large-scale target audience I was presented with by the stakeholders. So, first we narrowed down the target group and decided on the relevant research methods - online surveys and user interviews.

The Challenge

I was responsible for user recruitment, survey concepts, and interviews, plus research coordination and analysis.

Within the tight time-frame of 3 weeks, I conducted the initial research and identified key take-aways for the next research phase.
